B.M.: Independence Day
Written By: B. Martin
2005-11-24 17:05:13
Two days ago on the 22 of November ukrainian people celebrated for the first time the Independence Day. It was devoted to the “orange revolution” (orangevaja revolucia), that happened a year ago due to the President election. There were re-election, because of the disagreement with the Election Committee votes counting. A large number of people went onto the “majdan” (a square of independency) and tried to solve their problems there. And the most funniest thing – they really succeed. Today Ukraine has much in common with the USA – and the Independence Day is not an exception. On the majdan spoke in public Ukraine President and it’s supporters, their speaches were rather optimistic. But the opposition is not so sure about today’s government prosperity and they find no occasion to celebrate something. Ukraine – FOREX cooperation is more intensive nowadays, most likely today’s events want harm it.

Slow Forex trading this week
Written By: admin
2005-11-02 10:28:01
It is a very slow trading week for me as I have been busy with other things including my job and I've also been writing multiple programs to parse through historical data.  I've mainly been watching the EUR/USD and EUR/GBP currency pairs.  As I've said in previous posts, if I do anything this week, it would be shorting the EUR/USD pair.

Blackday: EUR-USD/JPY

FWIW, the trend is still in place on both the above pairs so I'm rather hoping that you changed your mind about the EUR/JPY and went with it.  I  know it can be difficult to comprehend that a trend will continue when it  is seen as already having gone quite far but such in the nature of trends  in general that selling Yen was the only trade to make.

CFTC report release yesterday
Written By: admin
2005-11-15 21:52:47

The CFTC report was released on Monday instead of Friday because of the holiday.  I just got around today to updating.  There was a 16000+ increase in short positions in the EUR flipping from net long to net short.  If you remember, the previous week, there was a flip from net short to net long.

Other points of interest may be that the Swissie increased open positions by 13222 from the previous week,  with 13084 being short positions.

From the last 2 weeks, forex futures volume may indicate the following:

CAD : positive; still strong favor for Canadian Dollar
CHF : negative; increased short positions
GBP : negative; no major movement in futures volume over last 2 weeks
JPY : negative; no major movement in futures volume over last 2 weeks
USD Index : positive; minor growth in long positions over last 2 weeks
EUR : negative; flip from net long to net short over last 2 weeks
AUD : negative; a slight increase in open positions

Expecting Range trading the rest of the week

I've been watching the charts today and from what I've seen and heard, range trading will rule.  With Thanksgiving in the USA approaching, volume should be light on Thursday and Friday.

I'm working on Friday (I work for a major financial) so there will be a NY trading session but I'm sure I won't see a majority of traders going to work Friday morning.
