Written By: Rich
2007-11-16 22:35:14

Forex On Top was updated yesterday.  Who were the biggest movers in the top 100?

  1. http://www.fxinstructor.com - This is a pay to be a member site that costs $29.95/mo.  Since this is the case, I can't comment further on the content.
  2. http://www.forexpros.com - "Forex portal" with content pulled from other sites.
  3. http://www.forextester.com - A software simulator of the Foreign Exchange Market which costs over $100.
  4. http://www.pfxglobal.com - Original content including videos, blogs, podcasts, systems, fundamental and technical analysis, and news.
  5. http://www.kathylien.com - A currency analyst's blog.  Kathy works for FXCM, writes books, and runs a forex trading service.

A Good Forex Resource... Or Not
Written By: Rich

See for yourself whether this forex resource that came to my attention via email is useful or not.  If anything, I like their macroeconomic event ranker.

Here's the email.

I wanted to update you with the results last Friday and again invite you to evaluate Forex Datasource technology as a complement to the technical and fundamental analysis you are used to performing.  This new hybrid approach has many virtues and is not too complex to follow. I am enclosing a couple of links to evaluate our offering in greater detail. By the way, there are many, many useful resources in ForexDatasource.com right now. We would appreciate if you could add our link to your user group websites as a reference for traders. Thanks in advance.

New Forex Website Rankings
Written By: Rich
2007-11-19 21:34:16

I figured I'd mention some of the improvements I made this weekend to my "Most Visited Forex Websites" website...   I received comments over the last year that Alexa didn't truly reflect website traffic since only visitors with the Alexa toolbar are tracked.  Critics claim Alexa is easily manipulated and doesn't represent global internet users.  I agree to a certain extent and that is why I now also use Compete.com's traffic statistics which are obtained via a toolbar, opt-in panels, ISP's, and ASP's.  I believe this represents "most visited" much more than before.  After all, it's literally impossible to estimate traffic to any given website unless you personally have this websites access logs.

As a result of the changes, the rankings have changed substantially.  Oanda is back at #1, with two other brokers tied at #2.

November Trading Update
Written By: Rich
2007-11-27 21:45:01

With a couple of days left in the month of November, I'm up 1.9%.  My expectancy is negative though and I've lost more pips than gained.  Pips matter but just because I'm at a negative doesn't mean I'm at a loss.  This is due to the fact that I normally size my positions so that I risk anywhere from .5% - 2% of my account balance.  What I'm not so sure about is whether my expectancy calculation is correct.  My expectancy stands at -.14.  This would mean that I will lose money trading.  It's a lot easier calculating my percentage gain based on where my account balance is now compared to where it was when I started.  For this reason, I know I'm up 1.9%. We'll see where my expectancy goes as my trading continues.
