Non-dealing Desk Brokers
September 5, 2006
"Traders have for a long time suspected that their success has been tied
more to the good will of the sponsoring broker (market maker) than the
free market and their discomfort is justified by the fact that trading
has been restricted to a contrived and artificial market created and
controlled by the individual broker."
The above sentence is a quote and something that I never really thought about. It is quite true that those of us that trade through FXCM, Gain, FXSol, and the rest are trading in an artificial market. Due to this "artificial market", the odds are stacked against us more than a game of blackjack. The dealer (broker) can not only see his hand but also yours and if he doesn't like his cards, he can sneak another one from time to time.
There are many differences between trading with a non-dealing desk broker and a dealing desk broker.
There are some very good resources if you're interested in reading more about the differences:
http://www.forexinterbank.com/trading.php - this gives you a complete table of differences between trading WITH a dealing desk broker and trading through a non-dealing desk broker.

In addition, here is a blog I visit regularly that is very dedicated to this subject.
